The war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran has entered its eighth day with no signs of slowing down, as massive explosions continue to rock Tehran and other parts of the country.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has defiantly rejected calls for capitulation, stating that Iran will “never surrender” — a direct response to US President Donald Trump’s demand for “unconditional surrender.” Despite the relentless bombardment, Tehran continues to strike back, launching drones and missiles at targets across Israel and the Gulf region.
Saudi Arabia confirmed that it intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles fired toward Prince Sultan Air Base, as well as several drones targeting the Shaybah oilfield, highlighting how the conflict is spilling beyond Iran’s borders and threatening regional stability.
Iran’s UN Ambassador Amir-Saeid Iravani condemned the campaign in a fiery address, accusing the US and Israel of recognizing “no red line” in their assault on his country, and pointing to the bombing of densely populated civilian areas as evidence of war crimes.
The humanitarian toll is drawing international alarm. United Nations experts have called for an independent investigation into an airstrike on a girls’ school in Iran’s Minab that killed 165 students — with media reports indicating the US military may be responsible for the attack.
As the conflict enters its second week, the world watches anxiously, with no diplomatic off-ramp in sight and civilian casualties mounting on all sides.
