Mumbai: Salman Khan’s much-awaited film, originally titled Battle of Galwan and later renamed Maatrubhumi, may finally be heading to cinemas on May 15, according to sources close to the production.
The film was originally scheduled to release this month on April 17, but was pushed back due to additional shoots. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for an official release date announcement.
May 15 on the Cards
According to sources, the makers are currently considering several release dates, with May 15 emerging as a serious contender.
“The additional shoot is done and the film will be ready soon. They are looking at several options and are seriously considering May 15,” a source revealed.
July-October Window Also Considered
An earlier report had suggested the war drama could release between July and October. However, that window appears increasingly difficult, as most major slots have already been taken up by big-scale films.
Notably, Aamir Khan has claimed the Independence Day slot for the Sunny Deol-starrer Lahore 1947, making that date unavailable for Maatrubhumi.
Official Announcement Expected Soon
“Salman and the other stakeholders are expected to take the decision soon. They are aware that this is probably the only major film of 2026 without a release date,” the source added.
The makers are also in the process of finalising a distribution partner for Maatrubhumi, with an announcement expected in the coming days.
