Washington/Abu Dhabi: As the US–Israel military campaign against Iran enters its 34th day, President Donald Trump has warned of significantly intensified strikes in the coming weeks, claiming American forces are close to achieving their objectives.
The conflict shows no signs of easing, with global markets rattled, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz collapsing, and NATO allies increasingly divided over the war.
Trump’s Warning
Trump said the US would hit Iran “extremely hard” for the next two to three weeks, signalling an escalation rather than a de-escalation of hostilities. The president expressed confidence that military objectives would be met soon, though no timeline for withdrawal has been announced.
Hormuz Crisis Deepens
A new UN report has warned that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped by 95%, triggering fears of a global inflation surge. Brent crude surged past $105 per barrel, while WTI topped $103, as energy markets brace for prolonged disruption.
UAE Intercepts Iranian Threats
UAE authorities confirmed they have successfully intercepted Iranian missile and drone threats, stating the situation remains under control. Abu Dhabi responded to a separate incident following a missile interception earlier today.
Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drones and Missiles
Saudi forces intercepted and destroyed five hostile drones and one ballistic missile on Thursday, according to Ministry of Defence spokesman Maj.-Gen. Turki Al Maliki. The latest intercepts bring the total number of drones and missiles targeting the Kingdom since the start of the conflict to 843 and 80 respectively.
NATO Divisions Widen
The conflict has exposed deepening cracks within NATO, with several member states publicly questioning the legality and scope of the US-led military operation against Iran
