A foreign journalist was abducted in Iraq’s capital Baghdad on Tuesday by unidentified individuals, according to the country’s interior ministry. A security source also confirmed the incident to AFP.
In an official statement, the ministry said security forces had been immediately deployed to secure the release of the woman journalist. No details were shared regarding her identity, nationality, or the exact location of her abduction.
Following reports of the kidnapping, authorities launched a dedicated operation targeting those responsible. During a subsequent pursuit, a vehicle linked to the kidnappers overturned as they attempted to flee and was intercepted by security forces.
The situation remains under active monitoring by Iraqi authorities.
