India’s LPG crisis has now reached the halls of Parliament, with Opposition MP led by Rahul gandhi and priyanka gandhi Vadra protest on March 12, demanding answers from the government over the worsening gas shortage across the country. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined fellow Opposition leaders inside Parliament premises, carrying banners that read “PM is Compromised,” as they demanded an urgent discussion on the LPG shortage triggered by the ongoing West Asia conflict

The shortage of LPG cylinders has created serious hardships for millions of Indian households. Hotels and restaurants are shutting down, families are struggling to cook meals, and the waiting period for cylinder refills has increased significantly. The government has now mandated a new 25-day inter-booking period for domestic LPG refills The shortage has emerged due to global energy supply disruptions following the ongoing conflict in West Asia. In response, the Union government has invoked the Essential Commodities Act, prioritising domestic LPG supply for households, hospitals, and essential services while restricting commercial distribution

Authorities have assured citizens that there is no shortage for domestic consumers and advised people not to panic or rush to book extra cylinders.
