Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Sunday that Tehran is seeking to end its ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel “with dignity,” while insisting that the nation will not surrender its nuclear rights. Speaking during an inspection visit in Tehran, Pezeshkian emphasized that while Iran is defending itself, it does not wish to be portrayed as a “war-monger.”

Strait of Hormuz Deadlock The strategic situation remains tense as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) reportedly reversed its decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Following a renewed U.S. blockade on Iranian ports, Tehran has once again restricted transit through the world’s most vital oil artery. The IRGC warned that any vessel approaching the strait would be viewed as cooperating with the enemy, a move that has sent shockwaves through global energy markets.

The 10-Day Truce in Lebanon Parallel to the Iran-U.S. standoff, a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon—brokered by the United States—continues to hold despite reports of minor violations. Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has cautioned that the truce “cannot be one-sided,” stating that fighters remain “with their hands on the trigger” to respond to any Israeli advances. Meanwhile, the Israeli military has established a “Yellow Line” demarcation in southern Lebanon to separate its forces from Hezbollah-held areas.

Diplomatic Efforts Diplomats from Washington and Tehran held a high-stakes meeting in Pakistan last weekend to explore a lasting peace. While a two-week temporary truce was mediated by Islamabad earlier this month, the recent closure of the Strait of Hormuz has complicated the path to a permanent settlement. U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed the pauses in fighting but urged all parties to move toward a “fair and logical” nuclear and security agreement.
